Kevin D. Gordon, Ed.D.

Dr. Gordon is a native of St. Petersburg and served as the Provost for St. Petersburg College Downtown and Midtown Centers, and The Palladium Theater. A 1982 Gibbs High graduate, Gordon excelled in track, earning city, county and district honors as well as state recognition. He earned an athletic scholarship to The Florida State University where he continued to excel in track as a four-year letterman and being named to the 1985 NCAA All-American Track and Field team.

Upon graduating from The Florida State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, he began a career in Finance, but quickly switched to Education. Dr. Gordon also earned a Masters degree in Education from Nova Southeastern University and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida. He joined the Pinellas County school system in 1987 and has been a teacher, magnet programs recruiter and coordinator of the 500 Role Models of Excellence program. He was an assistant principal at Clearwater High from 1996 to 2003; principal of John Hopkins Middle School from 2003 to 2005; and principal of High Point Elementary from 2005 to 2009. He became principal of Gibbs High in 2009. Under his leadership, Gibbs High School improved from an ‘F’ to a ‘B’ within two years.

Dr. Gordon serves on numerous community organizations, forums and boards that include the Suncoast Boys and Girls Clubs, the Morean Art Center, Concerned Organization for quality Education for Black Students (COQEBS), MYcroSchool™ Charter School and Bayfront Hospital.
