School Resource Officers TIC Training & Restorative Practices in Schools

Grant Awarded: $50,000

Gulf Coast Jewish Family and Community Services in partnership with the Pinellas Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative will provide training to School Resource Officers (SROs) serving high-risk middle and high schools in southern Pinellas County. The goal is to decrease the the number of students referred from school to the juvenile justice system. SROs will learn more about adolescent development, the impact of trauma on youth, implicit bias, and restorative justice models that will improve their interactions with all students.
