Janet Paroo

Janet Paroo is the founder and retired managing partner of NewSpring Ventures headquartered in Radnor, Pa., a venture capital fund specializing in early to growth stage companies in the Mid-Atlantic region. Prior to founding NewSpring, Janet was the co-founder and CFO of Qualitas Healthcare International, which was backed by Warburg Pincus Ventures II and focused on consolidating healthcare services in emerging Asian markets. Prior to founding Qualitas, Janet spent over a decade in commercial and investment banking.

Throughout her professional career, Janet has been involved in the governance and operations of nonprofit organizations, and is very dedicated to serving those in need. She has served on numerous public and private, profit and nonprofit boards in the Philadelphia region and the Silicon Valley California. She helped start a residential community, Camphill Soltane in Pennsylvania, for mentally handicapped young adults and served on their board for 10 years. She was an active board member for 6 years of Sophia Project, which focused on the issue of recurring homelessness in Oakland CA. She was also a board member of the Alliance for Stem Cell Research based in Palo Alto CA., which helped get Proposition 71 passed to fund $3 billion in bonds for stem cell research.

Janet received her BA from Earlham College in Sociology and Anthropology and her MBA in finance from Drexel University. She grew up in St. Petersburg and returned in 2008 with her husband Iqbal to make St. Petersburg her home once again. She served on the Board of the St Petersburg Free Clinic and currently serves on the Board of The Florida Orchestra.
