Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg Leadership Update
(St. Petersburg, FL – January 5, 2023) – The Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg (Foundation), which acts as a connector, a listener, and a source of fuel that accelerates the powerful work already being done to achieve health equity through racial equity, has appointed Carol Martin Brown and Carl Lavender as Interim Co-CEO’s during the search for a new president and CEO.
“I am extremely thankful for the leadership of Carl and Carol, serving as Interim Co-CEO’s.” Board of Trustees Chair Donna Petersen shared. “They have kept the organization moving apace, assuring strong community partnerships and sound fiscal oversight while supporting staff as they work to fulfill the promise of our mission.”
Martin Brown also serves as the Chief Financial & Administrative Officer for the Foundation. She has experience in both the financial and social sectors, earning her MBA from Columbia Business School and serving as a CPA with Big Four experience. Martin Brown’s business acumen and drive for community impact are the perfect balance for the Foundation team as they work in alignment with the Foundation’s mission of racial and health equity for Pinellas County.
Lavender, through his role as the Chief Equity Officer, serves as a resource and sounding board for staff and community partners seeking the most effective and impactful ways to build a race equity movement in the region. Lavender has made a notable career leading nonprofit organizations in Pinellas County for the past 20 years and served in high level community advancement and fundraising positions in Chicago and Cleveland nonprofits prior to that.
Through the strong leadership and collaboration of the CEO team, the Foundation will continue to serve its mission while launching a search for a new president and CEO.

It is the steward of an endowment to support health equity in Pinellas County.
