On the Ground: Youth Activism
Young people have already been thrust into the realities of adulthood, confronting the sweeping effects of a system and society built on white supremacy. Discussing and battling issues like state violence, racism, homophobia, climate change, school shootings, and a global health crisis are everyday for the teenagers and young people in our community.
Young people are on the ground so they should be at the table. This event elevates the voices of young activists and asks them to share their experiences. If and how is the conversation of equity being held among young adults? What does activism look like on the ground and behind the scenes? Where do youth-led communities overlap with established decision-makers and how can we support more of those intersections? What can each of us and our community do now to support our future equity leaders and their goals?
