Thank You to Everyone Who Showed UP

More than 500 community members joined us on October 4th to celebrate the beauty of South St. Pete with the inaugural We Run These Streets 5K! Thanks to everyone who showed up to run, walk, volunteer, cheer, and more.

It was your race, your pace. And we’re so glad we got to share it with you.

WHY THIS MATTERS

At the Foundation, we know that our health is shaped by so much more than genetics. It’s shaped by our educational experiences, our job opportunities, the quality of the healthcare we’re able to access, and it’s also shaped by the neighborhoods we live in and the strength and breadth of our social ties.

We Run These Streets is all about building community in and with and celebrating our local South St. Pete neighborhoods.

HOW PEOPLE GOT INVOLVED

  • REGISTER TO WALK OR RUN: Whether you’re an experienced pro or new to 5Ks, We Run These Streets is your race at your pace. You’re invited to stroll with your friends, sprint, moonwalk – whatever works for you.
  • CHEER PEOPLE ON: Don’t want to hit the trail? No problem. We need people on the sidelines, cheering people on. You can support your co-workers, your family, your neighbors, your friends. Everyone needs cheerleaders in this life – and this race needs some cheerleaders, too. Join the party on 26th Ave S or share your spirit at points throughout the course – whatever works for you.
  • VOLUNTEER: Want to help out on race day? We’ll need help with water stations, route direction, and more.
  • SPREAD THE WORD: We would love for you to help us spread the word. This race is all about building and celebrating community – so please invite your networks to take part in the day.

COST AND ACCESSIBILITY

We’re committed to ensuring that price is not a barrier to participate in Foundation events. Fee waivers were available to all participants who requested them.

Please note that any registration fees collected for We Run These Streets went directly to the Good Sweat Foundation to support their youth running program.

The Route

We started at the Foundation's offices, headed southwest, and picked up the Skyway/Clam Bayou Trail. We then wound our way through beautiful mangroves as we headed toward Child's Park neighborhood before reaching our turn-around point at the rec center and returning to the Foundation.
