What We Do
GRANTMAKING
Since our inception, the Foundation has awarded more than $32 million in grant funding to local organizations working to make our community a healthier and more equitable place to live. We’ve awarded grants ranging from several hundred dollars to $1.65 million to support everything from capacity-building to multi-sector collaborations.
CENTER FOR HEALTH EQUITY
The Foundation’s Center for Health Equity invites people to learn, connect, and create together to advance racially equitable health outcomes and transform our communities. Since 2020, we’ve hosted more than 10,600 community members in our space to foster connections, dialogue, and learning about the social factors that shape our health and how we can improve them.
DATA AND RESEARCH
As a leader committed to improving community health, the Foundation regularly commissions and supports vital local research to better understand how health outcomes and the conditions that shape them vary by race and geography. We offer this research to our community as a resource, learning tool, and guidepost for change.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVES
The Foundation also manages a handful of strategic initiatives focused on systems change. These include our Building an Equity Movement training program, our Youth Griot Program aimed at changing narratives, the Social Justice Book Club we steward in partnership with Tombolo Books, and our voter mobilization efforts.
