Home: A Pathway to Health Equity Through Housing – Community Briefing

Sep 27, 2018News

On Sept. 27, 2018, The Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg and Collaborative Solutions, Inc. released the report, Home: A Pathway to Health Equity through Housing. The research revealed the critical state of housing in Pinellas County through the lens of race, income and geography, in addition to ways to achieve safe, decent and affordable housing with cross-county, multi-sector strategies. Nearly 200 community members, local housing advocates, nonprofits leaders, elected officials, home builders and developers listened to these stark findings and learned how improving housing inequities can lead to a healthier, better community. A panel of national experts also lent their voice of encouragement and advice to the conversation. The panel included: Fred Karnas, Senior Fellow at the Kresge Foundation, Diane Yentel, President and CEO of the National Low Income Housing Coalition and Peggy Bailey, Director of the Health Integration Project at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.
