New Controller and Community Impact Manager Join Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg
The Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg has named Carol Martin Brown as Controller. Pinellas County nonprofit executive Marcus A. Brooks has been selected to serve in a newly-formed position of Community Impact Manager.
Martin Brown will serve in the leading finance staff role at the Foundation, handling all day-to-day revenue and expenses related to operations. Martin Brown is a senior financial leader with experience in both the financial services industry and the social sector. She previously served in Chief Financial Officer (CFO) roles at the following organizations: Transamerica Fund Advisors, Inc., in St. Petersburg, Innovation Education at the University of South Florida, and The New Teacher Project, a national nonprofit based in Brooklyn, New York.
Early in her career, Martin Brown worked in New York at Ernst & Young as a senior auditor and in financial management roles at Morgan Stanley Trust Company and J.P. Morgan Chase Investor Services. Martin Brown is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration – Accounting and Finance from the State University of New York at Buffalo and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
In the position of Community Impact Manager, Brooks will facilitate community input on the Foundation’s Social Change Center and create the inaugural approach to programming the Center, which will open in early summer 2019 in the Lakeview Shopping Center in south St. Petersburg. He will coordinate listening sessions, engage with multiple sectors of the community and use those ideas and input to shape the design, logistics and overall culture of the Center.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Brooks was the director of development for Eckerd Connects. His other roles included, development officer at St. Petersburg College Foundation and marketing manager/regional director of the Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay. He served as a trustee of the Foundation 2016-17. He graduated from Florida State University with a B.S. degree in Political Science.
