Dr. Kenneth Bryant
Dr. Kenneth Bryant is a 1970 graduate of Palatka South High School. He was born and raised in East Palatka, FL. He is the son of the late Ethel and Harold Bryant.
Dr. Bryant graduated from Mercer University in 1974 with a BS degree in chemistry. He graduated from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 1978. He completed a General Surgery internship at Tulane University In 1979 and a Urology residency in 1984 at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He was chief of urology at Martin Army Hospital in Columbus, GA, from 1984 to 1986 where he was honorably discharged from the army at the rank of major.
Dr. Bryant moved to Saint Petersburg in 1986 where he started his urology practice. He has since been very active in the community. He founded the St. Petersburg Prostate Cancer Awareness and Support Group which was later organized as the Minority Health Coalition of Pinellas, Inc. in 1996. This is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the elimination of racial health disparages through community education. The signature event for this organization is the African American Health Forum, a full day community health educational activity. He has been president of the local chapter of the American Cancer Society and served on the executive committee of the Florida Division when we sponsored a Florida constitutional amendment to eliminate indoor smoking in public spaces. He is proud to have served on both the Bayfront Medical Center Foundation and Systems boards. He was on the board of the Johnnie Ruth Clarke Community Health Clinic for many years and was chair when we expanded to multiple clinics in the county.
In addition to health-related causes, Dr. Bryant was on the founding board of the Academy Prep Center for Education, member of the Tampa Bay Chapter of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity and chair of the Mercy Hospital Museum Committee. He has been extensively awarded and rewarded for his community activities.
He is married to Dr. Nancy Bryant, and they are proud parents of Kris, Kevin and Natalie. He enjoys boating, fishing, skiing, mountain climbing, traveling, reading and scuba diving.
